How can I enlarge a picture without it losing quality?
I have a picture on my computer and would like to make it a lot bigger in size. How can I enlarge it without it losing a lot of quality and becoming fuzzy?

Chances are you can't. If you have already tried to do this with Photoshop or any other image processing software, you saw what happened. A picture that it 500x600 pixels will look pretty good on a computer screen, because the resolution is not that high on a computer screen. 72 dots per inch is the "standard" for monitors, but 200-300 is needed for a good print. A 500x600 pixel image would therefore make a great quality wallet-sized print! If the pixels aren't there, they just aren't there.

No the pixels are what they are,
small amounts of pixels stretched into a large space degrade the quality.

Not possible. Fuzziness is a result of information that is missing. When you spread out the pixels, you are not supplying the information that goes in between.
It is possible to reduce the effect by averaging the color, intensity, etc. However, the degree of deviation from the true picture will depend on the amount of enlargement.

If the Pixils aren't there, then you won't be able to enlarge the photograph. But you can still cover your desktop with a cool picture by tiling it....
Right click on your desktop.
Select "Properties"
Go to the "Desktop" tab
Under the Drop Down menu titled "Position" select "tile"

I have a great program that is a plug in to Photoshop, which allows 'lossless' enlargement. I have taken a 4 MP picture and blew it up to print out on 96 pieces of paper with my laser printer to make a 6' x 8' print. The clarity was fantastic. If you send me your email address, I can send you a picture of the 6' x 8'.
I have also enlarged a wallet size picture from Playboy and made it lifesize (with elimination of some print artifacts via Photoshop) about 8" x 10"

download picassa from picassa.comt it is a free program that allows you to modify pictures without ruining them, try it and see what happens, that dude heinz can help you too....

Try this in photoshop:
1. Open picture
2. Click on Image, select Image Size
3. Change "pixels" to "percent" in "Pixel Dimension" boxes
4. Change from 100 to 110 percent
5. Click OK
Follow this procedure until the picture is the size you want.
